The Living Word of God is Godís gift to man, our most precious treasure. It contains Godís message of hope for mankind. The Bible is more than just a book, it is ALIVE with spiritual power. Godís creative power is embedded in His Word. When God speaks, things happen. Godís Word is Godís voice speaking to our hearts.

Jesus Christ represents the Father to us. He is the Word made flesh. The Bible reveals the marvelous love and compassion of God for humanity in giving His Son to us. And Jesus, because of His intense love for us, sent the Holy Spirit to represent Him after He ascended to heaven. The Holy Spirit brings the Truth about God, as revealed by Jesus, to our hearts through the Word of God. So the Word is truly the revelation of Godís love.

Godís love is the most POWERFUL force in the universe. His love will conquer all. He wants us to experience His love. This love will lead us to rejoice in His Word, and delight in it, truly appreciating His character.

Experiencing the POWER of the Word is what Wordkeeping is all about. Wordkeeping fans our faith, and fires up our fervor. Doubt and Wordkeeping cannot exist in the same heart, because Wordkeeping expels doubts. The more I Wordkeep, the stronger my faith becomes, the more deeply I believe that God is loving and kind, and that His Word is good and true, holy and right!

Wordkeeping is basking in the Word, saturating the mind with the Word, immersing the soul with the Word. We dare not argue with the Word, because it is immutable, and it stands forever. Over 10 times in the scriptures we are reminded that we, as humans, will pass away, but Godís Word abideth forever.

What will Godís Word do for us?

The Word of God is quick and powerfulÖ Godís Word goes right to my faulty thinking and changes it into right thinking. It goes to my pride and humbles me in the dust. It pinpoints my complaining spirit, with my lame excuses, and fills me with reverent praise. It shatters my self-sufficiency, and causes me to cling to Christ in utter dependence. It subdues my rebellion and gives me a willingness to obey. It is power-packed with Godís perfect will, to cure every sinful tendency that we may have.

Father, how very much I need Your Word, urgently, desperately, to fill me, soaking down to the depths of my being. Donít let me delay, donít let me hesitate, donít let me make excuses for the neglect of Your Word! Pour it into me, as much as I can handle.

Let Your Word expand and grow as I take it in. Let it take root and flourish. Let each precious Word be a spiritual delicacy, making my heart sing and rejoice. Let praises burst from my grateful heart spontaneously. May others be blessed and nourished as Your Word flows out of the garden of my heart, like a well of water, refreshing their hearts.

Donít let me wallow in the world any more, when your Word will lift me up into the high places, into Your presence, where I can sing with unspeakable joy. Let not worldly treasure attract me, when I can revel in Your heavenly treasure.

Let Your Spirit stir up all my sleepy spiritual faculties, making me vibrant with your victorious valor, so that, as a valiant warrior, self can be completely conquered! No more lukewarm complacency for me, no more selfish indulgence, no more whimpering, murmuring, weak-kneed sissy stuff for me. Make me strong in Your Word! Oh, Lord, you know my every thought. I want You with all my heart. Let me never be content without Your powerful presence in my life. In Jesusí name, Amen.
